The kitchen designer

Draw the run, pick the finish, and the cabinetry prices itself from Cabinet Pricing into the quote; the client gets a link to move cabinets on their own version, and the drawing prints on the quote and the invoice.

A cabinet quote is a page of line items that mean little on their own. The kitchen designer is the drawing behind them: cabinets on walls, an island, finishes, appliances, priced on the server from your Cabinet Pricing rates, written into the quote as its cabinetry scope group and printed on the PDF the client signs.

Overview

The Kitchen designer button appears on a quote when your company has the Kitchen Designer on under Settings → Services — it turns on by itself for Kitchen Design & New Installs, Remodeling, Renovation, General Contracting, New Construction and Cabinet Refacing; a handyman or refinisher who installs kitchens can switch it on, and any company can switch it off — or when that quote already carries a design. Saving in the designer stores the drawing and reprices the quote in one step — there is deliberately no separate “save design” and “update quote”, because two buttons is how a quote goes out at a price that does not match the drawing stapled to it.

Only in FieldQuo. A kitchen and cabinet designer whose prices and floor plan go straight into the quote is not listed on the pricing pages of Jobber, Housecall Pro, Projul, QuoteIQ or ServiceTitan at any tier.

Cabinet Pricing: where the numbers come from

Settings → Cabinet Pricing is what the designer charges for cabinetry. Every quote is priced from these on the server, so changing them changes what new designs cost and does not touch quotes already sent. The screen appears only for companies with Kitchen Design switched on, or that have already saved their own rates.

Settings → Cabinet Pricing — how you price a cabinet, the rates per linear foot, then material multipliers and finishing.
Settings → Cabinet Pricing — how you price a cabinet, the rates per linear foot, then material multipliers and finishing.
  • How you price a cabinet — Per linear foot (width × the tier rate, finishing and install bundled) or Material cost-plus (box cost from an intercept plus a per-inch figure, marked up, install billed separately).
  • Rates per linear foot — Base, Wall / upper, Tall / pantry, Island, a drawer surcharge, and whether Install is included in the rate; off adds a separate installation line to the quote. Closet casework and vanity rates are optional and fall back to your kitchen rates.
  • Material multipliers — applied to the cabinet price; 1.0 is your baseline, 1.4 means that material costs 40% more. A corner premium sits beside them.
  • Finishing, delivery and tear-out — per door, per drawer front, a flat delivery charge and removal per box, each switched on or off per design.

The starting rates are one real cabinet shop's prices, and the screen says so: these are starting rates, not yours. They are believable enough to go out unnoticed — set your own before you send a kitchen quote. Back to the starting rates restores them.

How to design and price a kitchen

  1. Open the quote and press Kitchen designer.
  2. Draw the room and place cabinets, an island, appliances; pick the finish and the accessories.
  3. Press Save & reprice quote. The drawing is stored and the quote's cabinetry group is rewritten from it — other scope groups on the quote (a bathroom, a floor) are left alone.
  4. Send the quote. The drawing prints on the quote PDF and later on the invoice, from the same shapes the screen drew.

A quote that has already been sent is a commitment, so its design opens read-only and the screen says so. To change the layout after sending, press Duplicate beside that note: a fresh draft under the next quote number, with the same client, language, lines and drawing — none of the send history, none of the client's own edits — opens straight in its designer, unlocked. The sent quote is untouched.

Who can use it

Designing and repricing a quote needs Quotes at View, create, and edit. Cabinet Pricing is a settings screen for owners, administrators, Managers and Dispatchers. The client needs nothing but their link.

Domande frequenti

I sell cabinet refinishing. Do I need Cabinet Pricing?

No. Refinishing and refacing price from their own rate cards under Services and Instant Quotes; Cabinet Pricing feeds the kitchen designer only, and the screen stays hidden until Kitchen Design is on.

Can a homeowner design a kitchen before I have quoted?

Yes. With the Kitchen Designer on under Services, a public Design your kitchen page exists: a card on Settings → Share your links, a row on your bio link, and a link on the quote form's step for any of those kitchen services. What they draw arrives as a lead with the drawing attached and no price — you quote it. The client link on a sent quote is different: it edits that quote's design.

Does the client's edit change my quote?

Never on its own. It is a second version you can load; the quote only moves when you press Save & reprice quote.
